Defense Bill
“When I took over the military, it was absolutely depleted — we had old planes, we had old jets…I mean, just stuff that was tired. Now we have the finest jets in the world: the F-35; the F-18s — the new one. We have military equipment the likes of which we’ve never had…building submarines, building aircraft carriers — all made in the USA.” — President Trump
NASA SLS
Continued testing will ensure that the SLS heavy lift rocket will enable space ventures, not only for lifting the heavy equipment needed for the moon gateway, but also for the eventual trip to Mars. Previous launch vehicles did not have the heavy lift capability, so with SLS, America is going back to space not just orbit.
Ross Perot dead
This is a day late, but anyone with a few years and wrinkles around their eyes remember billionaire Ross Perot when he decided to make a run for the Presidency. The old coot had balls. I figured it was worth a few word of remembrance. God help me if I don't have a soft spot for colorful characters, and I hope when I shuffle off this mortal coil one of you will say something about me. Make it a good bs story...
So this one time Parrot and I was hanging out at this local bar. We were playing pool and having a few drinks. This drunk guy sidles up and says "aint you Travis, and you - ain't you Ross something or other?" I just nodded and kept on studying my shot, Parrot looked at him and "hell yeah I am, you wanna play in?" The drunk dude stepped over and took a right hand swing while yelling unintelligibly. Parrot took his almost empty beer mug and conked him on the head, not even spilling the rest of his beer. The guy passed out and Parrot finished his beer. Totally EPIC!
NASA News - Voyager
Can you even believe that Voyager is still operational. This convinces me that even though mistakes and accidents occasionally happen, the guys and gals at NASA still know how to get the job done. Voyager 1 & 2 have gone farther into deep space than we ever could have anticipated. Launched in 1977 these aging spacecraft prove that the folks at NASA know what the hell they're doing. Traveling beyond the heliosphere, the radiation bubble emitted by the sun, Voyager 2 is still transmitting data. The challenge now is power. I am not nearly smart enough to really comment, so I'll include a link with intelligent information here.
APOLLO 50th
In a really cool move, the National Air and Space Museum will project an image of the Saturn V rocket on the Washington Monument. Be sure to check it out here!
